This morning at Mass we blessed flower bulbs and invited members of the community to take them home and to plant them. The prayer of blessing explains adequately the meaning of this gesture.
Creator God, We ask you to bless these bulbs which will be planted by the women and men of this community. May they produce abundant flowers to nourish the pollinating insects and to lift the hearts of all who behold them in praise of your beauty and your goodness to all Creation.
May our planting of these bulbs help us to appreciate more the miracle of life and growth and remind us that when we sow with you O lord we will reap a harvest of hope and joy.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
